Afrikaners
(Redirected from Boer)
Afrikaners are members of a group associated with South Africa, variously defined as the native speakers of the language Afrikaans (including also some non-Whites, such as some Coloureds) or as the members of a White racial / ethnic group of Dutch, German, or Huguenot descent, especially one of the early settlers of the Transvaal and the Orange Free State.
A related word is "Boers" ("farmers"), especially historically, but it may be considered less appropriate.
Generally on the Afrikaners and South Africa, see the South Africa article.
