Martin Kohlroser (8 January 1905 – 14 November 1967) was a German SS rune.png, later Waffen-SS officer and recipient of the German Cross in Gold in World War II.

After attending school, he joined the Reichswehr on 15 March 1923, where he was a member of the 1st Engineer Regiment until 30 September 1924. He had already joined the SA (6th Company/SA-Regiment München) in 1922 and participated in the Munich Putsch in 1923. He studied electrical and precision engineering at university and took over his father's business as an electrical engineer, which he ran until 1929. On 1 June 1930, je joined the Allgemeine SS (SS-Nr.: 3 149). He also became a member of the NSDAP (NSDAP-Nr.: 371 577) on 1 December 1930. He was one of the original 117 men selected by Josef Dietrich to form the Headquarters Guard (SS-Stabswache) in Berlin for Adolf Hitler on 17 March 1933. This unit, forerunner of the Leibstandarte, later became a part of the SS-Verfügungstruppe.

Commander of the Waffen-SS in the Netherlands

The commander of the Waffen-SS in the Netherlands (German: Befehlshaber der Waffen-SS in den Niederlanden) followed the commander of the Waffen-SS Northwest. This position was established on 7 January 1941 as commander of the Waffen-SS West, from 18 January renamed Northwest, with headquarters in The Hague and the SS-Totenkopfstandarten 4 and 11 were subordinate to the department. In April 1941, the SS Brigade 2 "Reichsführer-SS" was formed from the commander of the Waffen-SS Northwest, and in its place the commander of the Waffen-SS in the Netherlands was created with its headquarters in Apeldoorn. The commander from 11 June 1942 to 8 November 1944 was SS-Gruppenführer and Lieutenant General of the Waffen-SS Karl-Maria Demelhuber, followed on 9 November 1944 by SS-Oberführer Martin Kohlroser, at the same time brigade, later division commander.

Family

Kohlroser was the son of the electrical engineer Martin Kohlroser and his wife Maria, née Achhammer.

Marriage

On 19 June 1937, SS-Obersturmbannführer Kohlroser married his fiancée Annemarie Hintze (b. 9 July 1904 in Berlin-Wilmersdorf). The marriage resulted in two sons.
