Uto August Edgar Meinrad Rüdiger Gallwitz (1892–1943) was a German officer of the Imperial German Army, the Freikorps, the Reichswehr and the Wehrmacht, finally Generalmajor in World War II. He made significant contributions to the field of powder development, documented them scientifically and tested them in practice.

Death

Oberst Uto Gallwitz, commander of the Artillerie-Regiments-Stab 610 (18. Armee/Heeresgruppe Nord), was killed in action during the Blockade of Leningrad 3 km northwest of Nikolskoje (Nikol'skoe) which is southwest of Uljanowka (Oblast Leningrad) and of Lake Ladoga on the Eastern Front.
