The Traditionalist Youth Network, abbreviated TradYouth or TYN, was a Radical Traditionalist group, disbanded in 2018. The Traditionalist Worker Party‎ was a political party associated with the Traditionalist Youth Network, although also disbanded.

History

It worked "to provide resources and support to independent groups of high school and college students throughout North America who are learning about the Traditionalist School of thought, helping one another apply the principles and spirit of Tradition in their lives, and organizing in defense of Tradition on their campuses and in their communities." TYN encourages young people of every Tradition and Tribe to unite as one against decadence, individualism, Marxism, and Modernity. The brainchild of Indiana pro-White activist Matt Parrott, TYN was led by founder and National Director Matthew Heimbach, former President of the Towson University White Student Union, which merged into TYN upon its creation. Thomas Buhls leads a chapter at Indiana University-Bloomington which has been constantly active and controversial.

While open to every traditionalist tendency and not affiliated with any one religion, TYN was noteworthy in that Heimbach, Parrott, and Buhls, along with several other members, were converts to Orthodox Christianity (by the end of 2013), adding an element of Christian fellowship to its activities and a stronger unity to its cause. On May 2, 2014 Parrott and Heimbach announced they were taking a sabbatical from activity in TYN on the orders of their (shaven faced, ex-Protestant) priest.[1]

Background

Matthew Heimbach was a tireless nationalist activist during his undergratuate studies at Towson University. Leading the school's chapter of Youth for Western Civilization from 2011-2012, and Towson's White Student Union from 2012-2013, he was every moment a thorn in the side of Marxist europhobes in the University and off campus. A transfer student, Heimbach's graduation loomed after just two years at Towson. The Traditionalist Youth Network was first proposed by Matt Parrott as a successor group "that will take the message of the WSU far beyond the confines of Towson." On May 22, 2013, speaking before the WSU End of the Year dinner at a restaurant, Heimbach announced the Board of Director's unanimous decision with one abstention to merge the WSU into the newly created TYN. The Board elected Heimbach National Director, with his Towson WSU comrade "Paddy" chosen as Vice President. Parrott, too, will play a key role in the organization. Génération Identitaire, the irrepressible youth faction of the French identitarian movement Bloc Identitaire, was an influence on the group.[2]

Mission

Tradition is our Mission

The Traditionalist Youth Network exists to provide resources and support to independent groups of high school and college students throughout North America who are learning about the Traditionalist School of thought, helping one another apply the principles and spirit of Tradition in their lives, and organizing in defense of Tradition on their campuses and in their communities. While members and supporters are encouraged to embrace a particular Tribe and Tradition, the TYN empowers them to unite and speak as one voice against the united voices of decadence, individualism, Marxism, and Modernity.

We Are Not Conservatives[3]

We are not necessarily Republicans, either. Members learn during their initiation that the Traditionalist worldview transcends contemporary Western partisan politics. While our defense of the traditional institutions of marriage, military service, and religious expression in public life would place us firmly on the “right” side of the political spectrum, our opposition to capitalist materialism, corporate greed, destruction of the environment, and selfish individualism is perhaps more at home on the “left” side of the political spectrum.

We are Diverse

One of the greater deceptions of Modernity is that multiculturalism and cosmopolitanism are synonymous with “diversity”. This could not be further from the truth. We not only seek to build relationships with students of diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds, but to empower them with the moral support, intellectual foundations, and resources to protect their heritage and identity from the culturally alienated and spiritually bankrupt future that awaits all those who embrace secularism, moral relativism, and globalism.

We are Inclusive

We’re not a threat to the students who are homosexuals, minorities, and atheists; we’re an alternative for them to consider. Homosexuals don’t spontaneously emerge from gay test tubes. They have faith traditions, extended families, and communities that they belong to in addition to experiencing sexual attraction to people of the same gender. While authentic Traditions do not embrace the individuals acting on those impulses, authentic Traditions do embrace the individuals as complete people. It’s degenerate and dehumanizing to define one’s “identity” primarily on one’s sexual impulses, one’s autism, or whatever other superficial idiosyncrasies modern educational, governmental, and media institutions attempt to pigeonhole individuals into.

We embrace ethnic minorities on their terms, validating, celebrating, and strengthening those bonds between people who share a tribe and tradition. Perhaps our most controversial position is our encouragement of members to court and marry partners who share a tribe and tradition. In the Modern rush to tolerate a plethora of “alternative lifestyles”, we believe the forces of secular globalism have become intolerant of one of those alternatives: traditional, monogamous, heterosexual relationships with partners who share a common heritage and tradition.

We are Organic and Sustainable

We believe that perpetual growth is the ideology of the cancer cell, and that something as complex, subtle, and beautiful as the human being cannot be crammed into the ideological frames imposed on them by most contemporary schools of thought. Our members are not discrete components in an economic theory or predictable actors in a determinist paradigm of historical development.

We reject the “progressive” model of history which insists that “progress” is unilaterally and immutably in the direction of more humans with more technology and alienation empowered with more license to act out in a more audaciously selfish manner. That’s patently unsustainable, unhealthy, and unnatural. Members of the TYN define “progress” by our unique and organic Traditional metrics. Happiness, wealth, and personal expression are things we enjoy along the way on our pursuit of Transcendent ideals, not ideals in themselves.''

Organization

The Traditionalist Youth Network leadership devises a monthly "mystagogy" (reading list) of relevant essays, books, etc. which serves as a book club across all the chapters. Chapters are allowed a wide latitude for individual direction. Following the example of the Towson WSU, the Mission encourages chapters to

Find opportunities to demonstrate chivalry by volunteering to escort vulnerable girls back home at night. Find opportunities to speak on behalf of those who are too vulnerable or timid to speak on their own behalf. Do whatever is necessary to translate from theory into practice our supposed courage, discipline, and rigor in defense of chastity, virtue, heritage, and dignity.

TYN seeks to act as an umbrella organization for every variety of traditionalist student. Chapters are forbidden from becoming "exclusive to one identity or tradition". TYN, however, acknowledges that some "traditions", such as Satanism and Unitarianism, are incompatible with its mission, and reserves the right to exclude chapters.

There is an especially active chapter at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana (TYNIU), led by President Thomas Buhls.[4] It is a registered student organization on campus.[5] Emulating Heimbach's example from his Youth for Western Civilization days, Buhls and fellow TYNIU member Jacob Horst have chalked messages critical of feminism and modernism across the IU campus.[6][7]

Events

On August 26, 2013 Heimbach, Buhls, Parrott, and one other staged a protest against Boxcar Books of Bloomington, Indiana, a Marxist outfit close to the Tinley Park terrorists. To demonstrate that they would not cower before europhobic epithets, the four saved the thugs the trouble of dredging up their worn-out insults, and following a round of chalkings marched to the storefront chanting

Racist, fascist, anti-gay
Trad Youth Network here to stay![8]

Met by a host of 80 to 100 antifa degenerates pelting fruit, tossing urine-filled condoms, and spraying them with a hose (which Parrott viewed as "a refreshing break from the balmy weather"), the four stood their ground for a half hour before departing.[9]

Boxcar Books, apparently considering dislodging an opponent outnumbered 20 to 1 after thirty minutes a remarkable feat, later boasted that the Leftists had made TradYouth retreat, a followup piece in the Indiana Daily Student suggested the counter-protest had backfired. Vice president of Diversity, Equity, and Multicultural Affairs James Wimbush defended TYNIU's freedom of speech, while Dean of Students Herold Goldsmith stressed the importance of open debate. Student Association President Jose Mitjavila urged future counter-protesters to be more civil, and even non-White students remarked that the poor behavior made the Leftists "look like the bad guys. It doesn't help their cause."[10]

TradYouth planned a Stand With Syria BBQ on 9/11. Initially planned as a Koran BBQ, where the holy book of Islam would be burned in honor of the victims of the religion over the centuries and "to tell Muslims that they are not welcome in our communities, our towns, or our nations,"[11] TradYouth changed plans as the United States approached war with Syria. The group reinvented the event as "an anti-war pro-Assad BBQ", and cancelled the Koran burning, which may have caused confusion as Assad is also a Muslim, lest it detract from their more important message: "We’ve got to stop invading Middle Eastern countries at Israel and the war machine’s behest."[12] Around ten people showed up, while around two dozen showed up at a non-controversial rally in nearby Lansing.[13]

On April 21, 2014, TradYouth did a "half-way" counter-protest against a "SlutWalk" at Indiana University-Bloomington. Organized on less than three days notice, four core members demonstrated along the walk's route, endorsing its message against rape culture, while taking issue with slut culture and the walk's shaming of modesty and chastity. Despite sharp disagreement with organizer Connie Lu and other participants, little trouble came from the harlots. A typical antifa thug attempted a "bash-and-dash" but was easily repelled by ex-Marine Thomas Buhls. Further Marxist refuse attacked en masse and desecrated TradYouth's Orthodox cross, but the group held its ground against the more numerous foes once more.[14]

Movement change

In April of 2020, Matthew Heimbach later had released an open letter statement announcing his dissolved partnership from other white nationalist movements. Ever since then beginning In July 2021, Heimbach announced to reform the Traditionalist Worker Party by adding National Bolshevik ideology to the movement. He quickly changed the name of his party to the Patriotic Socialist Front.
