Six million Jews are claimed to have been killed during "the Holocaust" but similar claims have a long earlier history. In 1911, Jews gathered in Basel, Switzerland, for their 10th Worldwide Zionist Congress (not to be confused with the World Jewish Congress). They conspired to form a Jewish state. The speaker and Theodor Herzl's Parisian doctor, Dr. med. Maximilian "Max" Simon Nordau (1849–1923), kvetched about Jewish expulsions from England, France, Germany, Spain. He describes them "tolerable" because Europeans were "merciful." But somehow he knows in advance the precise number of dead Jews ("six million") during a future war that will start in 1939.

The number six holds a special importance to the Jews. The so-called Star of David, an occult symbol, has six points. Yahweh in the Old Testament is said to have created the world in six days. It is claimed in Exodus 12:37-38 that Moses led 600,000 Israelites out of Egypt. According to the Babylonian Talmud, Sanhedrin 97a, history will last for 6,000 years.[1][2] Six represents the number of books in the Mishnah. Six is the number of aliyot (sections) on Yom Kippur. 600 was the claimed age of Noah at the time of the flood.

Several analyses have argued that the six million number has religious/occult/Kabbalistic origins.[3][4][5]

Rabbi Vilna Gaon, a leading Talmudic Kabbalist of the 18th century, commenting on the Zohar claimed that "the number 666 contains hidden within it exalted and lofty messianic potential."[6]

The Torah is generally cited as having 600,000 letters in it. The actual number is 304,805 letters, but 600,000 is used as the standard figure in the same way that in English saying "there was a hundred people" or "there was a million people" is used as a generalized exaggeration. Jews use 600,000 in similar terms such as, "My Bar Mitzvah was so popular that there were 600,000 people there!"[7][8]

Zionist prophecy

One argued explanation for the frequent mentioning of the six million number is an ancient Jewish prophecy promising the Jews the return to the Promised Land after the loss of six million of their people. Zionists are argued to have promoted this number in order to increase Jewish support for and emigration to Israel.[9][10]

Mention in history

The "6 million Jews" figure was also used before to claim that 6 million Jews died during Bar Kokhba revolt (132-135 AD) against Roman Empire under Emperor Hadrian. In "The Open Court Magazine" (published in 1897, Pg. 270-271), it says nearly 6 million Jews lost their lives as a result of the Bar Kokhba revolt under Bar Kokhba, the pseudo messiah [11]. But Roman Historian Dio Cassius gives a far lower number in terms of death during the Bar Kokhba revolt (132-135 AD). Dio Cassius wrote that 580,000 men were slain in the various raids and battles during the Bar Kokhba revolt (132-135 AD), and the number of those that perished by famine, disease and fire was past finding out [12]. But 580,000 can include both Romans and Bar Kokhba's men.

The claim of "Six million Jews", (either suffering or dying in Europe or Russia), was commonly used in newspapers, (most often, but not limited to the New York Times), starting in the year 1897.[13]

The American Hebrew on 31 October 1919 published a propaganda article under the headline "The Crucifixion of Jews Must Stop!" In the article, it was claimed that during the world war because of epidemics, starvation and "holocaust", six million Jews might have succumbed. Later everything turned out to be war propaganda. This information was being spread during and just after the First World War. According to Ben Weintraub, the figure six million has a great cabbalistic significance, which is why it is important to maintain it whether it is correct or not ("The Holocaust Dogma of Judaism: Keystone of the New World Order", Toronto, 1995, p. 12).

"Don Heddesheimer's compact but substantive First Holocaust documents post-WWI propaganda that claimed East European Jewry was on the brink of annihilation, regularly invoking nowadays well-known buzzwords like 'extermination,' 'holocaust,' and the now famous and almost talismanic six million figure. It gives details how that propaganda was used prior to WWII in order to agitate for minority rights for Jews in Poland, and for Zionism and Bolshevism in Poland and Russia; and demonstrates how Jewish fundraising operations in America raised vast sums in the name of feeding Polish and Russian Jews, then funneled much of the money to Zionist and Communist constructive undertakings — including banks, unions, and kibbutzes — rather than to starving Jews. The First Holocaust also includes eye-opening testimony from American diplomats and military attachés stationed in Poland and Russia that contradicted Jewish persecution claims between the two world wars."[14]

On 31 January 1939, the American newspaper Daily Sentinel published that "6 million Jews in Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia have been murdered."[15]

But Heinrich Himmler (Head of the Gestapo and Waffen SS) ordered the creation of Auschwitz only on April 27, 1940 [16]. Concentration Camp "Chelmno" was only established in December, 1941 [17]. Concentration Camps "Belzec" and "Treblinka" were only established on November 1941 [18] & [19]. Concentration Camp "Majdanek" was opened only on 1941[20]. Sobibor was only established on March 1942[21]. Plaszow Concentration Camp was opened only on December 1942 [22]. According to United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Jews started getting killed only from 6 July 1941.[23]
