Friedrich August von Trotha (23 May 1812 – 23 November 1868) was a German officer of the Prussian Army, finally Major General and commandant of Neiße.

Military career (chronology)

Christoph von Trotha bought the monastery estate in 1571 from Joachim Ernst Fürst von Anhalt. In the 18th century, a simple, yet beautiful baroque manor house was built on the site of the former cloister. Stolen by the communists after WWII, the estate was used as a nursing home, but gradually fell into disrepair. After German partial unification, investors turned it into a stylish "castle hotel".

The von Trotha family's castle and estate in Hecklingen were expropriated by the communists in September 1945 without compensation.
