Hermann Karl Rudolf Gebhard von Alvensleben (10 April 1809 – 8 January 1887) was a German officer of the Prussian Army, finally Lieutenant General and Governor-General of the Coastal Lands.

Family

Descent

Hermann was the son of lord of the manor (Gut Schochwitz) Lieutenant General Johann Friedrich Karl von Alvensleben (1778-1831) and his wife Karoline, née von Hirschfeld (1783-1849), daughter and first child of General of the Infantry Karl Friedrich von Hirschfeld (1747–1818).

Marriage

On 6 October 1836 in Döbritz, 2nd Lieutenant von Alvensleben married his fiancée Luise Julie Friederike Karoline von Kalitsch (1814–1878),[1] daughter of Friedrich Ludwig Johann Heinrich von Kalitsch (1786–1870), member of the Ducal Anhalt state parliament and chamberlain. They had ten children:[2]
