The term Asians refers to the inhabitants of Asia and to their descendants in other places.
In the United Kingdom, the term may refer to people from South Asia (in particular Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Maldives).
Another term is Oriental, referring to the Orient ("the East"), and contrasted with Occidental and the Occident ("the West"). What regions are referred to vary. Today sometimes considered Eurocentric and therefore somewhat disparaging, despite not used as such.
