Eurocentrism is a variant of ethnocentrism.

In a politically correct and often negative sense, the term can refer to the practice of viewing the world from a European perspective, often tracing this to the influence of European colonialism.

International standards and common usages may be claimed examples, such as chronology based on the birth of Jesus and a prime meridian based on Greenwich, London, despite that it being dubious that such starting points somehow represent all Europeans.

Related term include Afrocentrism, which politically correctly is considered positive.
