Style guide

Please see Metapedia:Style guide.

Suitable topics

Not all topics are suitable for Metapedia. Please see Metapedia:Content guidelines.

Wikipedia articles

  • To simply copy-and-paste Wikipedia articles to Metapedia is in general discouraged. If the topic is suitable for Metapedia, then the Wikipedia article is often biased and needs editing.
  • If you do import text from Wikipedia, please add wikipedia at the end of the article you are editing. Add wikipedia PC to the top of the article if you think that part of its content is biased and should be rewritten. This should preferably by done immediately by the person importing the text.

Categories

  • Please add categories to each new page using . Biographical articles, for example, often need categories regarding the topic they deal with, their nationality and their birth year and death year. For instance, for a Dutch philologer born in 1624 and deceased in 1699 add: . Even a bad category is better than no category (a bad one can be modified at any time later).
  • In Wikipedia articles there are sometimes sadly dozens of categories added, which Metapedia does not have, and which are often not helpful in Metapedia. Please think about whether a category is useful, and when it is, look which categories Metapedia does have, and when Metapedia does not have a useful category you want to use, you can create it and categorize the category itself. A simple way is clicking on unknown (red tinted) categories at the end of your articles you think to be expedient and to add them.

Copyright

  • Do not import copyrighted texts from other sites whose copyright you do not hold and avoid uploading copyrighted images.

Images

  • When uploading images, write a short description in the summary box; typically it is recommendable to describe the sources, for example including an entitled link or bibliographical information. You can also add an image copyright code. Such as image for Metapedia image (no copyright information) and PD image for Public domain image. See Help for more information.

Template and signing

Per firmare.PNG
  • Use the template on the upper left side of the editing window, that increases work speed. On the picture the arrow points to the sign button, the other buttons are helpful, too. Talk pages comments should be signed. It is also possible to sign using ~~~~

Your posts

Welcome to the English-language Metapedia. It is important for you to examine some of the various posts and to use the correct formats. In addition you must provide proper and credible sources. Take a look at Treaty of Versailles. Here you will get some ideas on layouts etc, sources and categories. Don't just start a page with a single line and leave it for others to do the work, as in White Lives Matter. I would also point out that contrary to what the Far-Left say about Metapedia, we are not a National Socialist site. Anything we post on this period is for historical purposes, not promotion. Thanks. Nikola Tesla

We have a page for Nikola Tesla. Please make your edits here and welcome to Metapedia. - NatAll75 01:52, 14 September 2012 (CEST)

<math>...</math>

Hello Tenacious, welcome again to Metapedia and thank you for your contributions. I saw that you used several times the code <math>...</math>. However, as far as I can see this does not work on Metapedia. So we have to use normal text to write mathematical expressions. This is a little bit inconvenient, but not totally impossible. (Galileo 13:13, 14 September 2012 (CEST)).

Re:Math=

Wilco, I'll keep my eyes open for that pesky thing in the future bro.

articles from wikipedia

When importing articles from wikipedia could you please not use the word "Nazi" but "National Socialist" instead? Also, we often use the template Wikipedia PC for sections taken from wikipedia that are potentially affected by political correctness. My advice would be to add this template to every section of an article by default, look at this article as an example: Albert Einstein. Only some neutral, technical articles perhaps don't need this template. Thank you. (Galileo 20:19, 14 September 2012 (CEST))

blocks

The recent Enadmin blocks were automatic, Enadminis a bot. I will unblock you if it happens again. Thank you for your contributions, by the way, I noticed many of your pages still have missing images. (Galileo 05:26, 16 September 2012 (CEST)).

Response: Yeah I'm not concentrating on images as much as getting text off wiki, the images can come later, whenever that will be.

Copies from wikipedia

I have copied lots of templates and images for your articles. Please notice: Quality is more important than quantity. For example you dismissed some information boxes from wikipedia. for example in the German Type VII Submarine article. Infoboxes make articles more readable, since you see the most important information at a glance. I suggest you to rework the articles you copied, and add the missing boxes.

I can help you so far, that if you copy the relevant text into the article, I can automatically copy the templates and the images. However, some templates are not compatible to metapedia. You must check the results and fix the problems, if any.

We can not handle .ogg files, therefore these must be commented out from the original articles. References to portals must be commented out, since we do not have their mechanism. Also - as Galileo wrote- the word nazi is inapproppriate in metapedia, please edit it to National Socialism.
