A no-go area or a no-go zone is an area, especially in a town/city, where it is dangerous to go, often also for authorities such as the police and the emergency services. There is typically group(s) in the area who view it as their own territory and who are hostile to certain outsiders. Examples of such groups are criminal gangs or certain religious/ethnic minority groups.

The mass migration has caused a rapid expansion of such areas.

A March 2016 report published by the Hungarian government found 900 areas across Europe.[1]

In 2017, delivery drivers in London considered large parts of London to be "no-go zones" due to crime, such as acid attacks.[2]

In 2018, metro drivers in Paris refused to stop at stations in "no-go-zones".[3]

Also in 2018, German Chancellor Angela Merkel admitted that there are 'no-go areas' in Germany, something officials had previously dismissed.[4]
