Hermann Keil (b. 18 August 1867) was a German officer of the Royal Saxon Army (Königlich Sächsische Armee), the Imperial German Army and the Preliminary Reichswehr, finally Major of the Reserves with an infantry regiment during World War I.
Life
Hermann Keil was born the son of Secret Legation Council Dr. phil. Adolph Keil (1822–1890), Jurist, diplomat and later lord of the manor (Weistropp near Dresden), and his wife Emma Clara, née Fiedler (b. 25. April 1836 in Öderan). He had six siblings. Older brother Eberhard Adolph was a major of the cavalry and was nobilized on 25 May 1907[1] (von Keil; 1857–1927), his brother Georg (b. 3 March 1865) was also a reserve officer of the Saxon Army.
Hermann completed his mandatory military service with the Saxon Jäger, was transferred to the reserves and was commissioned to 2nd Lieutenant of the 3. Königlich Sächsisches Jäger-Bataillon Nr. 15[2] in 1894. He was later trasferred to the 2. Königlich Sächsisches Jäger-Bataillon Nr. 13[3] with the Landwehr district Dresden-Altstadt (II Dresden).
WWI
From beginning of the war to May 1916, he served with the Reserve-Jäger-Bataillon Nr. 13. Then from this date to March 1918, he served with Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 133. The last unit he served with was the Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 107. He was retired (a. D.) on 1 May 1919.
