Council for the National Interest
The Council for the National Interest (CNI) is a non-profit, non-partisan advocacy organization in the United States, founded in 1989 by two former Congressmen, Paul Findley and Pete McCloskey, who had been critical of the Israel lobby and targeted by it. The CNI is aligned with The Council for the National Interest Foundation ("CNIF"), an independent nonprofit organization.
Former Central Intelligence Agency officer Philip Giraldi is its executive director. Giraldi has stated that the CNI has 12,000 members.
The organization states that "CNI seeks to encourage and promote a U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East that is consistent with American values, protects our national interests, and contributes to a just solution of the Arab-Israeli conflict. It is CNI’s goal to restore a political environment in America in which voters and their elected officials are free from the undue influence and pressure of foreign countries and their partisans."
The organization and associated individuals have been critical of the influence of the Israel lobby and israel.
