Wilhelm Weiß (1 June 1867 – 3 March 1926) was a German officer of the Bavarian Army, the Imperial German Army in World War I (brigade commander in 1918) and the Reichswehr, finally with the Charakter (brevet) as honorary Generalleutnant.

Life
Military career
Weiß joined Bavarian Army, possibly 22 July 1885 as Portepee-Fähnrich, was commissioned and served in the 5th Company/Königlich Bayerisches 15. Infanterie-Regiment „König Friedrich August von Sachsen“ Neuburg an der Donau as a 2nd Lieutenant, later in the 6th Company. From 1893 to 1896, he studied at the Royal War Academy (Königlich Bayerische Kriegsakademie). He graduated the 26th course with the qualification to become a General Staff officer, a senior adjutant (Höhere Adjutantur) and a teacher (teaching subject: tactics).
Staff officer
He served as a adjutant of the 3. Infanterie-Brigade in Augsburg and with the Zentralstelle of the General Staff in Munich. In 1905, he was commanded to the General Staff of the 2. Division (I. Armee-Korps) in Augsburg. As a Major, he was named adjutant in the General Staff of the I. Armee-Korps in Munich and later commander of the III. Bataillon/Königlich Bayerisches 9. Infanterie-Regiment „Wrede“ (7. Infanterie-Brigade/4. Division/II. Armee-Korps) in Würzburg under Colonel Eduard Lang (1860–1935).[1]
WWI
In 1914, Weiß was delegated with the command of the Landwehrbezirk Nürnberg (in the command area of the 3rd Army Corps)[2] and wore the uniform of the Königlich Bayerisches 9. Infanterie-Regiment „Wrede“. He stayed with the Landwehr-Inspektion during WWI until 1918, when he commanded the Bavarian 20. Infanterie-Brigade in Munich from 20 July to 2 August 1918[3] and the Bavarian 11. Infanterie-Brigade (6. Division/III. Armee-Korps) in Ingolstadt as of 8 August 1918.[4]
