Social justice warrior (SJW) is a pejorative term for an individual aggressively expressing support for politically correct views as a form of virtue signalling and often enforcing them through violence. the self-proclaimed fighters for social justice are often homosexual woke advocates of antiwhiteism, internationalism and globalism. They detest "the right", identitarianism and free speech.

The term gained wider recognition in the English-speaking world after its use in 2014 in the Gamergate controversy over sexism in video games, after which it was included in the US online edition of the Oxford English Dictionary, but not in its standard edition.

In the political left spectrum, the term has also been used within the discourse on left-wing positions. Social Justice Warriors are representatives of left-wing identity politics who are accused of using their moral outrage against racism, transphobia, homophobia, sexism and ableism only performatively and of neglecting "authentic left-wing politics", i.e. class-based and materialist analyses.
