Jacob Rees-Mogg (born 24 May 1969) is an English liberal and Member of Parliament for North East Somerset (since 2010) for the Conservative Party, and a hedge-fund manager. He was a Eurosceptic. He was re-elected in 2015 and 2017, with an increased share of the vote each time, as well as in 2019. Within the Conservative Party, he joined the traditionalist and socially conservative Cornerstone Group. Many of his admirers do so because he is personally traditional in his private life, dress and speech. However at the Traditional Britain Group Annual Dinner in 2013 he spoke out in favour of alien immigration and presented a traditional Liberal-left perspective on all aspects of this subject. He said, however, that he was opposed to the LGBT agendas, not politically, but because he was a Roman Catholic. His father, William Rees-Mogg, had been a notable journalist and writer and was editor of The Times newspaper.
