The American National Party was formed by Daniel Burros and John Patler, former members of the American Nazi Party. The group imitated the stormtroopers of the American Nazi Party and wore a uniform of black pants, white shirts, and armbands. On August 18, 1962 the party picketed a pro-integration rally in Englewood, New Jersey. Patler was arrested and later convicted of disorderly conduct. The party lasted about a year from 1962 to 1963.

The party issued three publications The Free American , Kill!. and The Nazi Fascist.

Ralph Grandinetti was the New York state chairman.
