Adolf Carl Johann Thiele (28 November 1853 – 5 August 1941) was a German naval officer of the Royal Prussian Navy (German: Königlich Preußische Marine), the North German Federal Navy (German: Marine des Norddeutschen Bundes) and the Imperial German Navy, finally honorary Rear Admiral z. D.
From 1903 to 1930 he was Reich Commissioner at the Maritime Office in Bremerhaven. From 1908 he was chairman of the Federation of German Marine Associations and remained so until 1919. He was then appointed honorary chairman. Under his leadership, the number of members was doubled and the association was converted into an association. He was also a full member of the “Schiffbautechnische Gesellschaft” (founded on 23 May 1899 in Berlin).

- In the years 1880 to 1882 an extensive training voyage was undertaken, which took the ship to East Asia (June 1881 to March 1882), the South Seas and Africa. In June 1881 she was in Yokohama. In June 1882 she visited Sultan Barghasch ibn Said off Zanzibar and then travelled on to Dahomey, where negotiations were held with the Kingdom of Dahomey in favour of German trade interests.

Family
Adolf Thiele's older brother was Rear Admiral August Adolf Carl Thiele, his nephew was Vice Admiral August Adolf Karl Hermann Thiele, both of whom were also naval officers. Adolf was married to Johanna Helene, née Rohmer (1860–1887)[2] and the couple had four daughters.
