National Farmers' Guild
The National Farmers' Guild was a right-wing nationalist group which broke away from the Farmers’ Union. Many of the members of the Farmers' Guild were German Americans who were also followers of Father Charles E. Coughlin. The group was active in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota. Leaders of the group were supportive of Gerald L.K. Smith and his America First Party.
On June 4, 1944 the National Farmers' Guild held a rally in Greenville, Ohio with 1500 to 2000 farmers in attendance. Speakers included were Gerald L.K. Smith, Mrs. Ernest Lundeen and Congressman Charles Binderup.
Utilities owner Carl H. Mote became president of the Farmers’ Guild on December 6, 1944.[1]
