Treason
Treason is the crime of betraying a country by acts considered dangerous to security. Sedition is similar but less serious.
History
Historically, in some countries, treason also covered the murder of specific social superiors, such as the murder of a husband by his wife or that of a master by his servant. Treason against the king was known as high treason and treason against a lesser superior was petty treason.
One form of treason may be espionage and other activities by immigrants or their descendants for their ancestral country, such as by Chinese for China and Jews for Israel. This may possibly because of ethnic / racial aspects, such as feeling greater loyalty for a nation state with people of the same ethnicity / race than for an ethnically heterogeneous state.
Working for the interests of another country such as by the Israel lobby is not considered treason.
