Herman Schwinn

Herman Max Schwinn (b. 13 August 1905) was born in Hamburg, Germany and came to the United States in 1924 living for a period in Canton and Akron, Ohio. A few years latter he moved to Los Angeles, California and became active in the organization the Friends of New Germany. In the mid-1930s he was appointed the Western Director of the German American Bund[1] He had been an American citizen but later lost his citizenship in 1940. At this time he was replaced as Western Director of the Bund by Carl Woeppelmann.

Herman Schwinn was the owner of an insurance agency in Los Angeles. He was a defendant in the Great Sedition Trial of 1944. At the time of the trial he was being held as an enemy alien.
