American football
American football, referred to simply as football in the United States and Canada, is a team sport played on a rectangular field with goalposts, where two teams of eleven players aim to score points by advancing an oval ball into the opposing team’s end zone, primarily through running or passing, with physical contact and strategic plays governed by complex rules.
Unlike American football, European or association football (called "soccer" in the USA and Canada) involves continuous play with eleven players per team using their feet to control a spherical ball, aiming to score by kicking it into a goal net. Soccer emphasizes endurance and fluidity requiring a high level of tactical intelligence, with minimal physical contact, contrasting with American football’s stop-start nature, protective gear, and high-contact tackling.
