Westminster

The City of Westminster covers a large part of London, England, the capital of the United Kingdom, lying on the north side of the River Thames. It is probably best known world-wide for its Abbey of St. Peter, once part of a monastery complex, where coronations traditionally take place, and for the Palace of Westminster (Houses of Parliament) across the street. Nearby and also opposite the abbey is the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, now housed in the former Middlesex County Council building. The principal ministries and other government buildings of the UK are in Westminster.
