Toward The White Republic is a 158 page long book written by North-American activist and academic Michael O'Meara. The book which was published in 2010 is a collection of articles divided into four parts based on content, most of them originally published in The Occidental Quarterly. It is his second book, and also the second book published by the relatively new publisher Counter-Currents Publishing. O'Meara is possibly most known for his book on the European New Right from 2004: New Culture, New Right: Anti-Liberalism in Postmodern Europe.
In the first part of the four parts of the book, O'Meara presents his thesis that the present American state is directly hostile and damaging to the European-descended founding population of the United States. Thereafter he follows up with a presentation on why he considers conservatism as a dead end for Whites, and hence why he refuses to be branded as conservative, but rather prefers revolutionary. The third part of the book is the author's overview of the failing American economy, and how the fall of this could facilitate the establishment of a nation for White Americans in the North-Western USA. The book can be seen as O'Meara's more practically inclined book, while his previous book details the history of ideas that led to the thought of a White ethnostate.
From the back of the book
“Just as in medieval times it was considered high treason to speak of the death of the king, in the United States it is taboo to contemplate the break-up of the ‘one nation, indivisible.’ Yet in this slim volume of essays Michael O’Meara argues that if the white race is to survive on this continent, the American Empire must perish. Secession is rising from the ashes of 1865, and O’Meara is one of its leading prophets.”
"Michael O'Meara is certainly the preeminent American scholar and translator in all matters concerning the European New Right. But he is also a genuinely American thinker who sometimes uses a different language than his European fellow dissidents. He wants to influence his fellow citizens, so he speaks plainly, in words that are sometimes beautiful and sometimes shockingly frank. He reminds me of me of Arthur Koestler in Paris immediately after WW II, who rejected in disgust the abstract and false language of Sartre and Beauvoir for a concrete and true description of the horrors and joys of those who actually lived under totalitarianism. O'Meara shows how to build a European-American restoration on the foundations of the New Right's philosophical and cultural analyses. He shows the role of myth, poetry, and rhetoric in bridging the gap between knowledge and action. When the `White Republic' emerges in North America, may Michael O'Meara be hailed as one of the Founding Fathers."
“Michael O’Meara is a thinker of great depth and a writer of extraordinary skill. He is impressively erudite, yet in these essays he wears his learning lightly. He is not a pedant trying to dazzle his readers with arcane and esoteric verbiage. He is a revolutionary, who wants to change the world. His idea of the White Republic as the mythic source and aim of radical cultural-racial regeneration may seem too romantic and too risky to the older generation of American paleo-conservatives and European ethno-nationalists. But if the white man is to retrieve his destiny, it is the only way.”
Fra the inside flap
"Michael O'Meara is the leading scholar and translator of the European New Right in the English-speaking world.
In Toward the White Republic, he brings his European perspective to bear on issues that lie closer to home. Convinced that the present political-economic system threatens the existence of European-America, he explores the prospects of establishing a White Republic in North America.
To this end, he highlights the role that political myth will play in mobilizing whites to fight for their existence, brushes aside the philistine distractions of race realists and conservatives, and weighs the potential for system collapse.
If the white race regains control of its destiny in North America, this book may well be one of the inspirations."
Michael O'Meara, Ph.D., was born in San Francisco in 1946. He studied social theory at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris and modern European history at the University of California, Berkeley.
While at Berkeley in the late 1960s, he was active in student and anti-war politics. He then spent nearly a decade as a trade union activist, first as a Marxist and then as a revolutionary syndicalist. When he later returned to graduate school, it was to study the comparative history of revolutionary labor movements.
He subsequently developed an interest in the European New Right and wrote what is considered the principal English-language work on the subject: New Culture, New Right: Anti-Liberalism in Postmodern Europe (Bloomington, Ind.: 1stBooks, 2004).
He is also the author of scores of articles, reviews, and translations focusing mainly on French and US politics, European nationalism, and Heideggerian philosophy."
