Tiffany Aiesha Henyard (b. 18 June 1983 in Chicago, Illinois) is since May 2021 mayor of Dolton, Illinois and Thornton Township supervisor.

Life

Henyard graduated from Thornridge High School. She attended Robert Morris University Illinois, where she pursued a degree in business administration.

Career

Henyardhas served as a member of the Dolton Village Board of Trustees from 2013 through 2021, as Thornton Township supervisor since 2022, and as mayor of Dolton, Illinois since 2021.

Controversies

Threats and intimidation

In August 2024, Henyard reappointed a fired deputy police chief. That deputy police chief had been fired by Thornton Township board of trustees due to claims related to financial mismanagement and fraud. The board of trustees then held another meeting in which Tiffany was not notified of. Ms. Henyard attempted to hold her own meeting at the village hall, however was unable to attain quorum after other members did not attend.[1] After her failed meeting, Ms. Henyard was made aware of the competing meeting held by the village’s Board of Trustees which she showed up to resulting in tensions flaring and police having to be called to the event.[2] Following this incident, Tiffany has spoken publicly and alluded to having her opponents or dissidents arrested.[3][4]

May Henyard has been accussed of using her office to exhert political pressure on local businesses. Specifically, some residents and business owners in Dolton, Illinois have claimed that Tiffany has shuttered their business after failing to contribute to her political campaigns in an act of retaliation.[5] During one meeting dressed in the ensemble, Mayor Henyard signaled for a DJ to blare Rihanna’s “Bitch Better Have My Money” as she sashayed around the room to punctuate a point she was making.[6]

Eviction

In October 2024, amid legal and political woes, Mayor Tiffany Henyard and her boyfriend Kamal Woods were served with an eviction notice.[7]

Unpaid for Banners

On 15 November 2024, police were called by Ms. Henyard after she found village workers removing welcome banners which displayed Tiffany's image. The vendor had stated that the banners had not been paid for and they were owed nearly $20,000. Ms. Henyard had sought the police to charge the parties involved in removal of the unpaid banners. Personal life

Henyard is currently in a relationship with boyfriend Kamal Woods, who is an employee of Thornton Township, as a law enforcement officer. Her personal life involves her daughter, Justice.
