National Socialist German Labor Party in America
Local cells of the National Socialist German Labor Party in America began to appear in the country in early 1932. In April one appeared in New York City followed by cells in Chicago and Detroit. By March 1933 independent party cells were in Cincinnati, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Hudson County, New Jersey. These groups appeared on their own, inspired by the successful National Socialist victory in Germany. In April 1933 Rudolf Hess who oversaw the development of party membership abroad ordered these nascent groups to dissolve.[1]
Two months later, leaders of these local groups meet in Chicago and formed the Friends of New Germany.
