Howland Spencer
Howland Spencer of Hyde Park, New York was a wealthy supporter of nationalist causes, particularly Robert Edward Edmondson and his activities. In 1936 Spencer attended the Ashville Conference and helped to form the breakaway group. He purchased the newspaper the Highland Post in Highland, New York in order to write anti-Jewish and anti-FDR editorials.
Howland Spencer wrote political pamphlets under the name Squire of Krum Elbow.[1] The name Krum Elbow refers to his home on the Hudson River which he later sold to the Black religious cult leader Father Divine.[2] Krum Elbow was on the west shore of the Hudson River directly across from President Franklin Roosevelt's Hyde Park estate.
