East Africa

East Africa from a British perspective is generally considered to mean Kenya and Uganda, both former British colonies, which were granted independence in December 1963 and 1962 respectively, and Tanganyika - from July 1922 to December 1961 a British League of Nations Mandate, which prior to that was German East Africa.
