Domitian
Domitian (51 – 96 AD) , Latin in full Caesar Domitianus Augustus, original name Titus Flavius Domitianus, was a Roman emperor (81–96 AD), known for his authoritarian rule and conflict with the senate. A conspiracy caused his assassination.
Hostile senatorial writers described him as a cruel and paranoid tyrant, while modern revisionists instead have characterized Domitian as a ruthless but efficient autocrat whose cultural, economic, and political programs provided the foundation of the peaceful second century.
