Defiance (2008 film)
Defiance is a fictional 2008 film set during the occupation of the Soviet Union by National Socialist Germany. It is based on the 1993 book Defiance: The Bielski Partisans, an account of the Bielski partisans, a group led by Polish Jewish brothers.
The film has been criticized for various inaccuracies, downplaying the role of non-Jewish partisans, and leaving out unpleasant aspects like terror and atrocities committed against the local population. Some Polish historians have branded the Bielski brothers’ as “Jewish-communist bandits.” See the "External links" section for detailed criticisms.
