Coon
Coon is a racial slur for black people having an uncertain origin. One possible origin for "coon" comes from the Portuguese word for slave pens or barracks baracoons. It could also have meaning as a shortening of "raccoon", as raccoons have a tendency to steal.[1] "Coon music" or "coon songs" were performed in minstrel shows made-up of Black and white singers in black face makeup.[2] The shows were popular from the 1880s to 1940s in America.
