David Ben-Gurion (born David Grün; 16 October 1886 – 1 December 1973) was a major Zionist leader, the head of the Jewish Agency from 1935 and the de facto leader of the Jewish community in Palestine, later the 1st Prime Minister of Israel (1948 – 1954), and well having various other positions, including again being Prime Minster (1955 - 1963).

He has become known as "Israel's founding father", but a less positive description would be that he would have a main responsibility for the various stated atrocities associated with the creation of Israel, such against the British and the Palestinians, one example being claimed planned ethnic cleansing, stated in for example the book The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine.
