Austrian Littoral

The Austrian Littoral was a region of the Austro-Hungarian Empire on the Adriatic Sea, sharing a small border with Italy. It's chief city was Trieste, whose burghers voted to join Austria in 1382. The city became a major economic powerhouse for Austria, where the merchant marine firm of Austrian Lloyd was based.
