American Vigilant Intelligence Federation
The American Vigilant Intelligence Federation was incorporated in Illinois in December 1927 by Harry Jung. The group maintained files and research on radicals and pacifists, selling their information to businesses. In April 1933 the Federation began to accept members who were expected to gather information on subversive activities which could be political, religious, social or anything else that would threaten cultural norms. The group organized itself as a type of spy agency with secret code numbers to identity the investigators to their control sponsors.
Jung’s east coast operative was Colonel Eugene Sanctuary who was later charged with sedition. The group's secretary was Miss Rose Peterson. The Federation published a four-page leaflet titled The Vigilante updating radical activities in America.
