Nationalism is rule based on a ethnic or cultural heritage; commonalities in a social group. These include language, race, folklore, religion and customs. The nationalist movement grew out of the need to be recognized as a independent nation-state and to move about freely through area’s with a kindred culture. During the 20th century nationalism would be based on inherent genetic and cultural differences between geographical isolated area’s.
