Ward Churchill
Ward LeRoy Churchill (b. 2 October 1947 in Urbana, Illinois, USA) is a former professor of ethnic studies, who was fired in 2007 after an investigation concluded that Churchill had engaged in research misconduct. While Churchill has claimed Amerindian ancestry, genealogical research has failed to unearth such ancestry, and he is not a recognized member of any tribe. The former member of the Marxist SDS of European descent fabricated the myth that the US Army intentionally distributed blankets infected with smallpox to Amerindians in 1837.
