Wolfgang was the son of Evangelical Consistorial Council Julius ''Siegfried'' Emmo Pickert (1865-1946) and his wife (∞ 2 May 1893) ''Elisabeth '' Florentine Henriette, née Meyer (1868–1947). He had five siblings:
