* 1 October 1933 Transferred to Berlin Military Group Command (''Wehrgruppenleitung''), soon renamed Commandant's Office (''Kommandantur''), as Chief of Staff
* 15 October 1935 Appointed commander of the new Infanterie-Regiment 102 in Chemnitz
** The Infantry Regiment 102 under von Knobelsdorff was subordinated to the 24th Infantry Division upon its formation. In May 1938, preparations began at its garrisons on the [[Czechoslovakian ]] border for the liberation of the [[Sudetenland]]. On 1 October 1938, the regiment was ordered to occupy the area around Tachau and advance on Marienbad. After only three days and the flawless success of the operation, the regiment began its march back to its garrisons.
