Marriage
On 3 August 1914 in Weimar, 2nd Lieutenant von Knobelsdorff married his [[Baltic German]] fiancée Alexandrine "Alix" Margarete Paula Gabriele Helmine Cäcilie Eva Freiin von Korff genannt Schmising (shortened ''Korff-Schmising''; sometimes also known as ''Schmysing genannt Korff''). His [[Protestant]] wife was born on 27 August 1892 in Lesten (Lestene) in western [[Latvia]], which at that time belonged to the [[Russian Empire]] as daughter of [[lord of the manor]] (Estate Aiswicken in Courland) Egon Rudolph Carl Johann Theodor Adam Freiherr von Korff genannt Schmising / Schmysing genannt Korff (b. 27 February 1861 Gramsden, Latvia, Imperial Russian Courland Governorate; d. 7 March 1930 in [[Dresden]]), originally from Courland (close connection to the [[ethnic German]] baronial family in [[St. Petersburg]]), but emigrated to the [[German Empire]] shortly before or during WWI. Alix von Knobelsdorff died on 22 May 1981. They had three [[children]]:

* '''Wilhelm-Ernst Paul Friedrich''' (b. 15 September 1920 in Weimar), decorated officer with an infantry regiment, wounded in the field in WWII
