Ryszard Bender

Ryszard Janusz Bender (16 February 1932 – 24 February 2016) was a Polish politician and historian.

He was professor of History at John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. In 1976–1980 and 1985–1989, he was a deputy of the lower house of the Polish parliament. In 1991–1993 and 2005–2007, he was a senator. In 2007, he was elected from the list of the Law and Justice party.

Bender has been accused of various less politically correct views, such as in association with defending the Polish Holocaust revisionist Dariusz Ratajczak. He later stated that his remark has been taken out of context.[1]
