National White Americans Party was formerly known as the American States Rights Party (ASRP). The ASRP was founded by Jerry Dutton in April 1964 which broke from the National States Rights Party. James K. Warner, James P. Thornton and James R. McDaniel were instrumental in the founding of the new party.

The National White Americans Party was renamed in the Spring of 1966 with offices in Birmingham, Alabama. Like the National States Right Party the National White American Party also used the thunderbolt political symbol. The party’s slogan was "Racial Purity is America’s Security." Their newspaper was called The White American.[1]

An similar group from the 1950s named the National White American Party merged with the National States Rights Party in 1958.
