Invisible Empire, United Klans, Knights of the Ku Klux Klan of America was founded by Robert Davidson and Calvin Craig in Georgia February 18, 1961.[1] The group broke from the U.S. Klans, Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. The newly formed Invisible Empire Klan changes its name to the United Klans of America with Davidson named as Imperial Wizard.

On July 8, 1961 the United Klans of America merged with Robert Shelton’s Alabama Knights. Shelton replaced Davidson as Imperial Wizard. Under Shelton's leadership the United Klans of America would become the nation’s largest Klan organization for this time period.
