Gamal Abdel Nasser Hussein (15 January 1918 – 28 September 1970) was the leader of Egypt from 1952 until his death in 1970. He was involved in various conflicts with Israel.

Nasser was important in more secular Arab nationalism, including more secular pan-Arab nationalism, but his defeat in the Six-Day War may have to some degree discredited this and contributed to the increasing Islamization in the Arab world.

Some individuals associated with National Socialist Germany, in some cases alleged war criminals, moved/fled to Egypt and assisted Nasser.
