The Encyclopædia Britannica Eleventh Edition (1911) is one of the most famous editions of the Encyclopædia Britannica. Many of its articles were written by famous scholars. Although sometimes outdated, it is considerably less politically correct than later editions and is in the public domain.

Project Gutenberg is making an electronic version which be freely available from Project Gutenberg when finished. Two websites have it available unproofread and without the illustrations.
