Chuck Schumer

Charles "Chuck" Ellis Schumer (born 23 November 1950) is a Jewish American politician. A member of the Democratic Party, Schumer is the senior United States senator from New York, a seat he has held since 1999. He became New York's senior senator in 2001, on the retirement of Daniel Patrick Moynihan. Elected to a fifth Senate term in 2022, Schumer surpassed Moynihan and Jacob K. Javits as the longest-serving U.S. senator from New York. He is the dean of New York's congressional delegation. In 2009, he succeeded Dianne Feinstein as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration.
