American Confederate Army
The American Confederate Army was founded by Bill Hendrix at a secret meeting in Orlando, Florida early in 1952.[1] Hendrix was Grand Dragon of the Southern Knights of the Ku Klux Klan based in Tallahassee, Florida. The idea of forming an American Confederate Army originally was a joke.[2] But later individuals began to express interest and Hendrix issued certificates making those who applied "Colonels" in the ACA.[3] The group gained national attention when Hendrix declared that if the US Supreme Court outlawed segregation in public schools the American Confederate Army would take up arms to defend their constitutional rights.[4]
