Ambulance

An Ambulance is normally a clearly defined and marked vehicle, invariably painted white with a definitive red cross painted in several places upon it. It's purpose is for its crew to provide emergency treatment and transport ill people to somewhere that full medical treatment may be available to them. In more modern times Air Ambulances have been used.

In wartime hospital ships are also painted white with red cross markings.
