Albert Sergel

Albert Sergel (November 4, 1876 – June 26, 1946) was a German writer and National Socialist, who gained popularity in writing children's and political poems.

Life

Albert Sergel was born in Peine, Prussia. He was the son of a postman in Hildesheim. He would attend high school in Hildesheim and then study Classic philosophy at University Rostock.[1] Albert Sergel lived in Rostock, Germany while studying from 1903 to 1907, and then in Berlin from 1908 where he worked as a freelance writer.

Sergel was a National Socialist supporter and publicly exclaimed his support for Hitler specifically. After WWII, Sergel was among authors whose works were to be formally delisted by the Department of Popular Education in the City of Berlin City Council. [2]
