"Angel is next"
"Angel is next" was a threat against the President of the United States said to be received at the White House during the attacks on 9/11. "Angel" was reference to Air Force One which at the time contained President George W. Bush. At around 10:30 that morning Vice President Dick Cheney relayed to Air Force One that the White House received the threat. The anonymous threat was received by the Secret Service’s Joint Operations Center.[1]
As a result of the threat President Bush detoured Air Force One to Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana and Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska before returning to Washington later that evening.
The 9/11 Commission Report dismissed the threat as a misunderstanding.
