Alcázar of Toledo

The Alcázar of Toledo is a stone fortification located on the highest land in Toledo. Built as a Roman palace in the 3rd century, it was restored by later Spanish kings. In the time Spanish Civil War the nationalist held the Alcázar against overwhelming forces in the Siege of the Alcázar. This incident became a central story in Spanish Nationalist lore.
